It was one year and a few hours ago
when I stood anxiously at international arrivals
at Johannesburg International airport

I had  flown 29 hours from my then home, Vancouver, B.C.
across half a planet
and one season

I stood there
dressed too warm for this southern summer's day

So this is where our cyber journey took me
soon to meet you

We met here on Gaia, then called Zaadz, so many months earlier
the seed of our love planted in words and images
our creativity compensating for the great distance

The distance seemed to make the longing even greater
When we said our first  “I love you” a month after we met
a door had been opened for the both of us to fall into
…falling into love

We think of love as the most human of emotions
yet
What is this love
when it can happen
when you haven't even met a person?
When words and images alone could bring it about?

I looked around
looking for you
waiting for that moment
when my heart could consumate our love
with gentle touch and staring into your eyes for the first time
…those things that the internet could never allow us to do

and then
I felt a finger tap on my shoulder
you wore a beautiful green blouse
and that smile that was so recognizable
“are you looking for me?” you said with a smile

finally
my heart had arrived home

Now
one year and a few hours later
I am again telling you
how much I love you

Words can never say
these feelings which brought us together
Now, we touch and hold each and everyday
the comfort we first felt
even stronger now than ever before
and the year that has transpired
has brought us so many blessings

May I bless our love now for the next year
and the rest of our life

May we continue to grow closer and closer together
may each day bring us new lessons
may the love between us transform any difficulties into light
and we see all obtstacles in their purity; as life's greatest lessons
may we help each other to grow awareness
may that awareness increase our love for all beings
may our visions transform into reality
and touch beings everywhere
to remind us all of our kind heart and intrinsic loving kindness
may we love each other and all beings with infinite depth
may courage evaporate, replaced by wisdom

it all seems to revolve

It's that feeling of belonging,
of being connected with something greater
than this small self we are so familiar with
