1st Anniversary

In the beginning of August 2007 Gien and I met here in Gaia. Gien recounts our history on his profile page.
Last year some time before this month, Gien and I were Counting Down. At the time counting down felt endless. Then the day came when we were getting married.
Our wedding was so precious.
Two days ago I experienced the biggest birthday party I've ever had on my 50th birthday. Thank you Meenakshi and my special Gaian friends.
Today is our 1st wedding anniversary. Gien and I stayed on after puja and teachings at the Lam Rim Tibetan Buddhist centre today where we were married on this day last year and renewed our vows to each other. Well - more like - expanded on the initial ones. It is so beautiful having traveled together for one year. It does feel we've known one another for all our lives.
We have had a very happy year. Today we looked back over the past year and also at our dreams for the next. I do more because Gien is in my life. I am very fortunate and grateful for our love. Our love which flows so naturally and effortlessly. May all beings love effortlessly and fearlessly. May we benefit all beings.

Meenakshi you are always 1st, Mata! You are 'so there' for absolutely everyone. A very precious example of a loving being. Thank you. Yes. we love to share our love because we wish all beings to be happy too. So often we sigh as we look at our joy and say, 'all beings should feel this way'.
Siona thank you for your blessings. You are a 'Gaian Hostess' in many ways, so I must say again how happy I am that Gaia is here - for this is the only place where Genie and I, being who we are, could have met.

This morning Gien and I were reminiscing - Gien kept saying, 'these are the things you should be sharing with people - it may help'. Now I cannot remember exactly what they were but I was looking at so much sadness I have seen and again realising - I love to realise again and again! - how easy things flow when there is love. We were saying how our spiritual aspirations and path seem so crucial in our love. We are aware how death can come at any moment - no one knows when. So time is precious and not to be frittered away on meaningless things which will not make sense anymore in the last moment.
Oh yes, this is one of the things we were speaking about - one must be cautious where one seeks ones 'love source'. Of course ultimately the source is within but along the path of discovery we make many errors.
I made mistakes in my past - mistakes because of ignorance. So much pain - because pain is born out of ignorance. At the time I met Genie, I was at the beginnings of a relationship where I so nearly walked the path of sorrow again - always leading me to greater awareness - but taking valuable time. My children have been harmed by the sorrowful paths. I always tried again. Made new mistakes. Having found the right partner it is as though, 'now I can fly'.
Mmm reading that paragraph again - we all make mistakes. We are all here to learn. I am grateful for some small lessons I have learned.

Siona - I think we all try to do good things in the world but oftentimes it's so difficult. This is because we exist in a greed driven society where success always means “my own personal success”. Most in this society are geared towards this attitude and these are the attitudes any of us, you or I, or others here on Gaia face when we try to manifest our vision into reality. We need to keep going though, to build up the momentum
